    Hi,

I've got a quick question regarding the Acer 5002 and it's TV-out functionality.

Basically, is it possible at all? As you know, this particular laptop only has a VGA port on the back. I was reading here on the forums, and I gathered that it might be possible, so I picked up a very inexpensive VGA to S-video/composite converter on E-Bay, hooked it up to the TV, but the laptop can't pick it up. I've tried both the S-video and composite connection, and can't get the drivers to reconize the TV at all. If I had both the S-video and composite connections hooked up at the same time, the laptop reconsized the TV, but no video out on the TV at all (well, there was, but extreamly garbled).

I thought maybe the adapter could do it, but maybe I was wrong. Is there any way of doing this? I've upgraded the video drivers to the latest off of SiS's website, but no luck there either. Could some software maybe help out with this, like Powerstrip or something? Or am I stuck with getting a VGA to NTSC converter?

Also, one more question that falls under this category. I had this laptop hooked up to a HDTV through the VGA connection, but I couldn't for whatever reason get it to push out a resolution of anything above 1024x768. Tried many things, from playing with the SiS driver setting to just the Windows settings for screen size, and no go. I'm basically wondering if Widescreen output is possible on this laptop? I got some sort of widescreen to work, but the output on the TV was just a small portion, and to move the mouse around to slide the screen to view it all.

Feel free to throw as many tech type answers at me as possible...I'm a trained IT professional :)

    Thanks in advance.
