I'm a bit confused as to what batteries can and can't be used in the Acer 5100.
My Acer 5100 came with BATBL50L6 (11.1 volt battery). I recently aquired an Acer 5102 which had with it a BATBL50L8H (14.8 volt battery). I notice that the batteries look pretty much the same, and are physically compatible. Also, 5100 and 5102 are both part of the 5100 Series...probably have the same motherboard even...so I would think they would use the same battery voltage.
So, is it safe to put the 14.8 volt battery in the 5100? Is it safe to put the 11.1 volt battery in the 5102?

good question... let me see if i can dig up any info,,, i have a strange feeling that one is a 6 cell battery while the other is an 8 cell,,, but i'd not try to switch till verifing that the L8H is just an 8 cell version of the same battery
you might check on the acer page where you can purchase OVER PRICED accessories... and see if an 8 cell is available for your model,, and see what it's model# is..
just a thought,

I don't have an answer for your 5100 deries.
I have a 3100 and a 5610Z. The 3100 came with a 2000 mAH 14.4 volt battery. I bought and (OVERPRICED) 14.4 volt 4800 mAH battery from CDW.
When I got my 5610Z it had an 11.1 volt, 4000 mAH battery. It was exactly the same size as the 2two 14.4 volt batteries and fit exactly. Both PCs use exactly the same brick, P/N and all, so I chanced it. The 5610Z runs great on 14.4 volts and the 4800 mAH battery gives me some serious battery life.
So, that is my story on my 3100 & 5610Z. Take my advice for EXACTLY what you paid for it.
Acer 5100 Can Use Both 11.1V and 14.8V Battery?
