For whatever reason, whenever I close my laptop while still on, I assume it goes into a sleep or hibernation mode. When I reopen it to start working again, I can not get the thing to "wake up". I press the power button like I am suppose to, but nothing happens, and I end up having to hold the power button down until the machine turns off to reboot. Is this thing dying on me or did I somehow turn something off? I just bought this thing in May and it runs Vista.![]()

The sleep/hibernation issues seem to be a common problem on machines with Vista. You could try downloading the Reliability updates and see if that will fix it.
You could also try getting BIOS updates for your machine. Hopefully this is the link for it, Acer model naming scheme is confusing with the dashes and extra 4 numbers. http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5110.html
FTP link if you like FTP: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook
Also did this come preinstalled with Vista or did you upgrade/clean format it from XP to Vista? -
Vista was pre-installed on the machine. Where do I get realiabilty updates?

Check Windows update. I don't know the exact KB number though.
But here are links to the KB page so you can probably download from there:
