Hey guys. I formatted the laptop to get rid of all the bloatware. I installed all the necessary drivers except for the webcam. Which driver do I download (from the Acer website): Suyin or Bison? Does it matter?

    Thanks. :D

The only one who can know this is you. Aspire 5100 models can come with either the bison cam or the less popular suyin cam. You will have to find out which one you have. Yes it matters which driver you use because they are different devices, a suyin driver doesn't work with the bison cams.

Perhaps you can check the device manager and see if windows detects the device(even though it won't have the driver for it) and possibly what the device manufacturer is. If that doesn't work you could try using everest or pcwizard to find out who the webcam manufacturer is.

Hey I just looked at the Acer Guy page and this is the stuff I have. I'm not too good with this technical stuff so has anyone found a solution to what I have?

    Laptop info:

    Acer, Aspire 5100 – 5674
    w/ Windows Vista

    OrbiCam Driver info.

    Driver Version:

    6.32.700.1

    Driver Provider:

    Bison

    Hardware ID:

    USB\VID_5986&PID_0100&REV_0100&MI_00
    USB\VID_5986&PID_0100&MI_00

Everytime I click on the Desktop icon it just says that the "Acer OrbiCam Application has stopped working."

Remove all pictures from the My Pictures folder. I know its odd but some laptops do have that issue.

If it still doesn't work then uninstal all camera drivers and install only the Bison ones.
