A couple of days ago after leaving my laptop on (on AC power) for a couple of hours it went dead and I was unable to charge it up at all. I assumed it was a problem with the AC lead and borrowed one from a friend. I can now get AC power to the laptop and it fully charges when off. When I turn the laptop on though it transfers to battery power, won't charge and dies after a couple of hours.

Any ideas as to why it will charge when off but not when the laptop is on?
