I'm researching a problem with usb audio on an Aspire 5536 and, having failed to find anyone with a similar setup, I think I'll have to try to see what happens if I try to install Windows 7 onto my old Aspire 5102.

Has anyone done this successfully? Acer support has no Win 7 drivers. I don't care about anything exotic, just to get the on-board chipset drivers and the on-board audio drivers working basically and correctly. The chipset drivers are the crucial ones as they cover the usb hardware, I believe.

Just in case anyone here is in a position to compare notes, the problem I'm looking at is when using a USB 1.1 audio interface without an external usb2.0 hub in Windows 7 and recording or playing back through software that uses asio drivers. I get continuous resets of the usb data. Microsoft people seem to say it is a problem with the usb part of the ATI chipset. There is a documented problem like this when transferring data from external drives with the nVidia chipset for which a patch has been issued.

Anyone here doing audio this way with an AMD-based laptop?
