The DVD drive is IDE. Hard drive is SATA.

Actually Paten the DVD drive is not IDE, at least not in the true sense. (it's not 40 pin)

Pop the HDD cover off and look at the interface to see what type of HDD it is, if they say SATA I'm willing to bet it is.

Considering that I replaced my DVD ROM/CD burner on my 5315 with this dual layer DVD burner, I'm pretty sure it's IDE.

Check with the manufacturer's site for the specs of your hard drive. If it says Serial ATA-150 it's SATA1 if it says Serial ATA-300 it's SATA2.

    Hi

if is 5315 ...depend why ?

Everest ultimate edition ....show me SATA 150 MB/S,but the motherboard of 5315 don`t suport SATA II ? This is the question ...because if suport I want to go on SATA II .
conection on motherboard for Sata I and SataII are different ? or if I put Sata II on a Sata I ..will work but to a low speed ?

    bye
