Apologies if this has been asked b4 I am new around here  but:

My daughter is at uni and about 4 months ago she said the above laptop was getting hot and cutting out.
I asked various questions and deduced that she had been using it on her bed covering the CPU/FAN slot. Since then all ok. :)

Yesterday I get a call saying its dead Jim. Today I drive to Norwich and by good fortune happen to have another working 5315 so try the obvious like charger, battery and hard drive. All work on spare machine but duff one is still dead when I fit the bits to it. No lights. No fan on. Its stone cold dead. Its is no more. Its a dead laptop.

I cant smell any signs of burning/overheating. (ex office equip engineer) Any help would be appriciated as she is a hard up student so thanks in advance to all who may reply. :D
