    Hi all!!
I have a huge problem with my Acer Aspire:
I have an old 5315-2847, which is a Celeron 530 on an Intel 960GML mobo.
A few days ago, it died. I was checking my email, and it simply died. I called Acer tech support and they told me that it might be a hardware failure, but might send it back for checking (and of course, there“s a 100$ cost for the revision).
So I opened it up, checked the HDD, processor, Wifi card and DVD reader by installing them on my other lappy; and worked just fine. So I'm guessing it's a motherboard failure. Someone told me that it could be a faulty BIOS, since Acer has had some troubles before.
Is there anything I could do with it? Or should I just replace the motherboard?
When pressing ON button, it turns on every indicator light, coolers and HDD start, but no video whatsoever, and after 2 or 3 seconds, it just turns off.
    Any help will be appreciated!!

I might be able to help you, or atleast point you in the right direction.

When you say "Died" do you mean Powered Off by itself?
Does it power up at all?
    Have you tried another AC-Adapter?
Have you cleaned the fans out?

Try removing the battery, then trying to power the unit up.

These are sort of tip-of-the-iceberg questions.

If it's no longer getting video, but powers up: Intel HBM Southbridge BGA Failure, requires BGA reflow. Need specialized equipment to do this.

No power at all, with KNOWN GOOD AC Adapter?: Short on the logic board or bad DC Connector. Requires repair by a skilled electrical technician.
