    Acer 5315 optical drive

    Hi all just need some advice my optical drive has packed up so need a replacement and would like some advice on which to go for ie a better drive than the standard one thanks

    That would be hard as you've never mentioned what the standard one was.
    Basically you can buy whatever drive you want al long as has the same interface (ATA or SATA) that your notebook uses.
    LiteONs are good and so are Optiarcs. Stay away from Matsu$hita- there may be lots of them available and there's a good reason for it- no one wants them.

    it's just a cd dvd rw think i will have a look at the optiarc's there sony are they not thanks for your reply as well

    Yes, Optiarc is (now) Sony owned. Optiarc drives are either Optiarc's own technology (former NEC) or rebadged QSI stuff. Optiarc's own hardware is to be preferred :)
