    Acer 5315 running x64 windows 7, Extra Ram??

    Hi I am new to this so please bear with me,
    I own an old and trusted Acer Aspire 5315, I ran out of HD space so I installed a brand new 500gb sata out of a Fujitsu AH530 Lifebook, the HD was preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Premium x64, which worked as soon as I plugged it into my Acer 5315. The laptop isn't the fastest thing at the moment so my next upgrade was going to be Ram? I visited the crucial website to buy some and they told me I could only install 1gb extra although I'm running a x64 OS. Is this right as their own site says that Win 7 Home Premium can handle 16gb?? or am I missing other factors?
    The Acer was standard before I put in the Hdd and was running Windows Vista basic..
    Everything else in the laptop is, as is from Acer.
    Intel Celeron M550 2.0Ghz, 1Gb 80Gb, Vista Basic

    :thumbsup: Thank you, I've just ordered a Brand new T9500 from a well known auction site along with 3Gb Ram, I'll post back in a few days to let you know if it's all up and running, Already updated Bios in anticipation!! Could've just gone out and brought a new Laptop but I do like my old Acer!!

    Update of progress, CPU arrived this morning as did the Ram, From shut down to turning the laptop back on took no more than 5 minutes. Started up computer, as it was just plug and play everything went to plan, A few updates later and the trusty old 5315 is a different laptop. Much quicker all round and can open many more tabs now with no hanging or force closing issues, WEI has also gone from a dismal 2.1 to a much better 4.9 only being held up by graphics !! Which I cant do anything about. But as I don't use it for gaming etc not a problem. CPU is now a 6.7, Celeron was 2.4 You wouldn't believe that it was the same laptop. The total cost was £91 whereas a much better laptop would've cost hundreds more so very happy bunny now! Thanks to all the people who posted in the Acer 5315 section for ideas....

    Ps My computer has got 4Gb installed, As I was sent 4Gb when I only ordered 3Gb??? not to worry though.... Thanks again.
