I currently have a Acer 5315 with upgraded T5550. I have the current Atheros AR5007EG wireless but would like to upgrade this is possible to a n series wifi card. So does anyone know which card I can swap this one out to get N wifi setup?

I have a 5720G, which has the same motherboard as the 5315. I can report that the AR5007EG can be swapped out for an Intel 5300. (Be careful - Lenovo versions of the card won't work. Mine is from a Dell.)

However, an even better card is the AR9380/AR9390 - it is 450Mbps, like the 5300, but it has much better range (TX power up to 23dBm, while the 5300 is capped @ 15dBm).

I found that to be able to use a HP wifi mouse you need to have the latest drivers not from the manufacture but the software company that created the driver software. That was something I found by accident but then again you have to have the latest wifi card and drivers from the software company not the company that sells the laptop to have Microsoft wifi miniport driver to load. That is the main reason I am switching to newer wifi card to get the ability to load Microsoft wifi miniport driver.

HP may be different, but Lenovo cards are known to be customized to only work with Lenovo-supplied drivers; and Lenovo drivers perform extensive hardware checks before allowing the card to run. (Even on Lenovos, these checks tend to fail quite often - the Lenovo driver is so overzealous.)

Did some price check on that card and wow cost like 3x-4x roughly the price compared to a 5300 used. That is way to much since I be putting that part in a older laptop already of which have both 4695 intel going to intel 5300 would more then suffice for my needs. If the Atheros was same price as the intel I would by the Atheros used wifi cards but as of now I have to pass on the Atheros and go with the Intel.
