Hi guys,
I have been reading and trying every method I found on these boards regarding flashing bios when bricked, but to no avail. I am not sure though if it also depends on the laptop's model because every method I have tried, the instruction was used for a model other than mine. I would like to explain this from the start when I had the problem.
I am using an Acer Aspire 5517 laptop. Last week, there are times that a very noisy and continuous beep comes up whenever I boot it up. It came originally with windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I assumed that there is something wrong with my OS so I decided to do a fresh install of windows. However, when I tried to boot the computer to CD/DVD, the noisy beeps started to come, and I was not able to proceed. I have read and searched the net for a possible solution and someone suggested to flash the bios to the latest one.
I have used Macles' guide on flashing the bios using 3310. It went well until the part where it says that the flash has been successful but it was stuck there. I have waited for hours but nothing happened, only stuck with the same screen. Then I decided to remove the battery and the system turned off. But when I tried turning it back on, nothing happened. Not even lights. Totally dead. (my power cable and battery are working perfectly before this happened)
I tried the FN+ESC trick with Crisis disk but to no avail. I am not getting anything, totally dead. No lights, no fans, nothing. Not even the power light.
I hope anyone can help me out sort this problem, instructions, suggestions will be very much appreciated.
I have access only to a cd/dvd drive and a USB flash drive but not the USB FDD.
Please help me out.

hi guys, hope to have any help on this problem. thanks a lot and more power to this site

Try removing everything (RAM, HDD, optical drive, wifi card and anything else you may have plugged in to the computer) and see if you can boot into the BIOS. If you can get it to boot, start putting the components back one by one until you find the one that stops the computer from booting.
I suspect something died and that caused the computer to beep, but I don't know if you will still be able to get back in after a failed BIOS flash. -
thanks for the reply jimbob. i will try this and cross my fingers. will post whatever happens.

Good luck. If it doesn't work the problem could be that the motherboard died, in which case you might as well look for a new computer.
