    Hi,

    - I ordered the 200GB Hitachi travelstar 7200rpm SATA I laptop hard drive. This is the first time that I am going to change the hard drive on a laptop, I have done it plenty of times on a desktop, its quite simple, however, when it comes to laptops is there any difference or issue that I should be aware of.

    - How would you adivse me to partition it for optimal performance.

    - Does anyone know the performance different between the Travelstar and Momentus (both 200 GB, 7200 rpm, however Momentus is SATA II Vs Travelstar SATA I)

    thanks

nothing really. they are SATA so you could do a complete hard disk copy from one to another using software such as GHOST and a desktop system that has 2 SATA connectors.
Partitioning is a personal thing and dependent on how you use your PC, as well as how you like to store things. I usually do 2 partitions, one for downloaded/personal items. I save nothing of importance to the partition that contains the OS install.
