How can I turn on 5.1 on my notebook. Sound manger requires a digital connection, but I can't seem to find the S/PDIF connection. Where is the S/PDIF? I am trying to connect the Razer barracuda headphones, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

S/PDIF is usually the same port with the 3.5mm port the one that you plug in any speakers or headphones. Usually that port is referred as Headphone/speaker/line-out jack with S/PDIF support
I am not very sure how to set up surround sound as I don't have any way to test it but you try the following
Select the Playback Devices by right-clicking the
Volume Mixer icon in the sysetm tray of your Windows system.
The Playback Devices dialog box will pop up. There are three tabs: Playback,
Recording and Sounds. Click the Playback tab, and then select Realtek Digital
Output and click Set Default to set the digital output. You can check the properties as well.
Let me know if it is working and how good are the headphones as I want to buy something similar.

Thanks for the Info. I checked the sound properties in windows XP, however, it didn't help. When I turn Dolby Digital live on (which is compulsory for 5.1), the sound stops. There are not digital output options in the control panel sound manager nor properties.
The Headphone is good. Let me rephrase, ONLY the headphone (not the mic) is good. My Mic is already dead. It needs a USB port to work.

I think this is dead, but did you set the default sound settings to digital ? I see it in vista, needs to be something like this in XP.
