I connected this new acer by vga cable to my polaroid LDC HD tv vga in, and when I toggled to external monitor F5, the tv control board blew out  (luckily I got a protection plan when I bought the tv, repairman said it smelled of burning, when he removed the tv's cpu)

The tv was set for input = VGA. I have used my HP laptop on this tv for 2 years, and never had any problems.

    Any advice from video-savvy users?
