Please before you discard this 'help' cry, consider an old man's plea.
My Acer 5610 had a "Supervisor Password" entered, I believe by my grandson two years ago. I noticed it once, didn't know how go get in so never did. Recently had a bad day. Used what I had for a restore back a few days, nothing worked.

I have the two Recovery Disk I made the day I bought this. Never used them. I can't get the disk to take hold and restore to Factory. I get a message I'm going to try to attach. It's not clear. What is stumping me is the last entry. "[ /NoExecute=Option]" That is the bottom. On the bar at the bottom is "ENTER=Submit" I've tried every thing I know to do.

I've learned to use the PC on my own as I live many miles from a city. Done fair but now I'm stumped. By the way I'm 75 years of age. My learning term as been more than 7 years.

Sure hope someone understands my problem the way I wrote it and can help me. :D

As I expected I forgot to post the picture of the screen in question.

Ok it seems like the recovery process is trying to change the operating system(XP) boot order... or something like that...It's not very clear.
When the recovery stops there is it waiting for you to confirm this operation? What happened if you do so?

Thanks much for your reply. I'm not sure what you mean "waiting for me to confirm the operation." I have clicked ENTER as to submit, then it tries to boot normal. My hands shake so much I'm trying to get the Old Grouch to use camera to get a better shot of the screen.

I tried to cram all that happened in the first post. It's not there.

Here is a summary of my problem.

Grandson entered Password, let the area and presents is unknown.

I made so really bad mistakes withe original OS and couldn't correct them. Had to make the 100 Mile trip to a PC Repair, but they wouldn't do the CMOS clearance and reformat unless they were allowed to use just Vista. I wanted the Acer Disks used so I could get back many things they had that I liked. No, they wouldn't do it. I agree to accept the plain Microsoft Disk VISTA Home Premium. So I have a full working copy on the PC. I'm trying to reformat with the Disk I made when new, over the Vista in there now. When I follow instructions, "place disk in, restart and press ALT+F10 to get to the restore disk. I can't get there for the problem the pictures shows.

It tries to boot normal but it can't? What exactly happens when you press enter?

It boots to a normal screen. Like it ignores the command where ENTER=SUBMIT and EXIT=ESC on the bottom. To say another way, It boots to the OS that is installed, where I want it to boot to the Acer Factory Restore Disk that I made. I made a Drivers and Application Disk also when this was new. It list most ever thing in the Acer Empowering Technology except for one item, Acer Recovery. The larger attachment is the item missing from the disk of Application and Drivers. All I can find is the small attachment.

I sure appreciate the help, even if I'm so dense I never get there.

    In appreciation
    Mudd
