I plugged my acer 5610 in to the outlet power the other day, The charging light came on but when I pressed the button the light turned off and wouldn't come back on. Also the battery has also been replaced. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried plugging it in directly without a battery and try turning it on then?

Yes, I have tried that. P.S When I unplug from the power and press the button the screen flickers, but it doesn't do this when plugged in.

Sounds like a power supply issue. Try a new adapter and if it still doesn't work you might wanna have it serviced or replaced if warranty is still available.

You bought new batteries and a new adapter and it still doesn't work? Okay so I'm 100% sure it's either your laptop's motherboard got fried (short circuited for whatever reason) or there's a problem with your laptop's power supply as it can't feed power from either the adapter to the battery or from the battery to the motherboard. Either way, you have to send it in for repair or RMA if warranty is still available.

The laptop is 3 years old, I think the warranty is a bit out of date. I have no idea whether the board is fried or not. Could you tell me anything I can do to remedy this issue now?

3 years old huh? Well given that I'm pretty sure that it's a power supply issue, you won't be able to do anything but have it repaired or better yet, get a new laptop, there are a lot of cheap ones out there. To cover all angles, however, you could try swapping the hard drive with another one to see if it'll boot. If you can get new RAM, you can try changing the RAM as well but the laptop should at least boot even with a faulty hard drive or RAM. It shouldn't be totally dead if any of these components are the issue.
