Hi!
I have a Acer 5630 with the spec:
Intel core 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83 Ghz, 667 Mhz FSB, 2mb L2 cache)
Nvidia Geforce Go 7300 (turbocache)
120GB HDD
2GB DDR2
The problem i have at the moment is first off, a drop in frame rates whenever im playing a game. usually kicks in when the fan starts to pick up and ill lose my fps to about 15-20. Second to make it even worse, my laptop will jus switch off completely (like the power has been cut off and everything will be off in a flash, no warnings). Won't reboot or anything and jus die for about 10 seconds before i can hit the power button to start it up again.
Is this a heat problem? and if so what can be done to stop this as im thinkin the constant switchin itself off is dmging the laptop? or is a safety feature?
Please Help and thanks for reading!

I have an acer aspire 5670 and i had the exact same problem as you. The thing is the aspires get so HOT its crazy. It scalds my skin if i leave it on my lap i assume youre 5630 is similar. For me i just bought one of those things with 2 fans that sits beneath your laptop (i dont know what its called but if needed i can take a pic and post it). As soon as i used this the problem stopped so im fairly sure its just getting too hot and youre comp shuts down so ure cpu doesnt melt and such.

Ah thank you! wud be great if you cud post a pic up of it. Where can i get one of these then? can u buy it from like PC world or other computer superstores?
sorry to add, Most of the heat comes from the top left corner of the laptop which is where my graphics card is im gettin and the biggest fan is. Jus feels like its not cooling it down quick enuf.
Thanks

Heres a few links to some of the "chill mats" as they call them. Basically it sits under youre notebook with 2 fans that constantly run to cool it. I bought mine @ target for 25 dollars its by targus. On the aspire 5670 its actually opposite. The right side of the laptop vents out a ton of hot air but its never enough. my aspire is quite large and im guessing youre model is too so make sure the chill mat you buy will fit nicely under your notebook. The one i bought it too small and its kind of irritating to make sure its correctly placed to stop it from overheating.

What your looking for is a notebook cooler pad. Just google or search on ebay. I also have a 5672 and use a triple fan cooler, never overheats. Make sure to check the air intake on your laptop. Most pull in from the bottom and expel out the side or back, then verify that the cooler is forcing air upward into the laptop air intake. Also take a look at the vents on you laptop to make sure they are clean of any dust, and if you are comfortable with opening the the laptop, check for dust inside. Use either compressed air or a miniaturized vacuums to clean the dust.

It's very imp to see the airflow...It should be sending air into the laptop and let laptops own fan work to expell the air...

Right i bought a Cool Master notepad1 cooling pad. Small and compact with 2 fans runnin at 1500 rpm and ive instantly noticed the difference! I can now play CoD 4 lets say and it wont switch off or slow down in anyway. The graphics card still gets a bit hot but its breathin much easier as the laptops own fan isnt working as hard. I'll check the inside later and see what else can be done, cos it looks like the laptops fancan't handle the heat at all.

Quick inspection: From the bottom of the laptop, cold air is pushin out from the bottom and hot air is pushin out from the back of the laptop... is that normal? :S
