    Hi folks,

I'm new here, I found you through some searches on google and most of you seem clued up about things! :D

I'm just wondering if someone could help me with a laptop I am trying to repair for a friend.

It's an Acer Aspire 5633WLMI - It's around 2 years old, so is out of warranty!

His neice dropped it on the carpet from her lap, there is no physical damage and looks as good as new still! However, when I turn the laptop on, it won't get past the POST screen and when I try to hit F2 to get the BIOS up, it just sticks on "Please Wait".

I've had the HDD bay open to try and feel if the HDD is spinning and it seems that it isn't spinning however the HDD LED is flashing like crazy! However, I don't see how the HDD not working could stop me from getting into the BIOS, so I'm a little confused right now, I am 99% sure the HDD isn't spinning, so I am trying to get a spare 2.5" IDE HDD sorted out just now.

However, I would appreciate it if anyone could offer any advice or give their thoughts!

    Thank you! :D

Just a quick update, I've managed to get a hold of a spare IDE HDD, I should have it next week at some point, to see if that is causing the problems.

I just thought I'd update this incase anyone else has the same problem.

It wasn't and IDE HDD, it was SATA, I got a new SATA HDD in the end, I put it in and voila, one working laptop :)
