Hi guys, i have a very frustrating problem with my acer laptop. Everything was going ok until i decided to upgrade my 3965abg internal wifi card. I installed a new one 4965AGN (and at a latter effort a broadcom 4311).
I installed windows 7 then, the card was detected correctly in device manager but i have a red X on my wifi indicator on the tray and no network is detected. (went back on the working XP instalation-the same). After the "ressolving issue" selection from the windows 7 is states radio off use the wifi switch in front of your computer. And here is the problem the light does not come up (the one with the antenna sign) as the switch would not work....

    Any suggestions????

Also i would like to ask about the antennas. There are two cables comming a black one and an white one that goes to the mini pci card. So does it matter which one goes where on the card...

In general black cable is MAIN and grey/white is AUX.
Your problem may be related to the way the card is switched on/off via a certain pin (pin 20)- you'd have to mask it with a tape.
    See here for reference.

EDIT: Of your notebook has mini-PCI see here for reference

Thank you very much i would have never guess it...

According to the aforementioned link it is mini-PCI Express is this same 20th pin you mentioned i'd have to mask? (sorry for my english)

After trying to measure the pins i'd have to admint that i don't know which one is the 20th pin (i suppose pins are counted from both sides)
