    Hi,

The problems with my few-months-old Acer 5635 already started... The DVD-ROM won't eject. To be more precisely it ejects when it want. Could be this problem because of Windows or because the unit is dying?

Could be anything. Hard to tell. For example, it could be that the power connection is simply loose.

I just reinstalled XP and it's not its fault. And I don't think it's the power connection because if I restart the computer it let me put the disk inside, it play well but I have to use the emergency eject hole if I want to take it out. After using the emergency eject hole the computer freezes and I have to shut it down.
I think the problem is this ****ty DVD-ROM SlimType branded...

    *Edit:

I just noticed that without a disk inside I can open and close the door have many times I want without any problem. The nightmare starts when inserting a disk

To better understand my problem I've made a small clip. You can watch it here. If the resolution is too low you can watch a WMV version here.

If somebody knows what's going on with my computer please reply.

    Thanks.

Hmm, that is one of those strange problems that does not have a pattern to it. If it is in WinXP, what does the eventviewer says?

Sorry guys for this late reply. I was away for a while. I did not fix my problem and I'm sure the only way to fix it is to change the DVD Rom unit.

Anyone can tell me where can I buy a better DVD Dual Layer unit?

    Thanks.

It's happening everytime when I insert a disk. It doesn't matter what type of disk I insert, when I try to take it out, the DVD Unit freeze.
