Hi everyone, I found this forum from a google result for a similar problem with the Acer 5672, but the numbers in the Device Manager matched the ones in the setup files ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=71035) so I did not try that fix.
I installed the Acer Webcam software & driver and just the driver separately, the download files came from the Acer website. Neither of these allowed me to use my webcam.
When I first got the laptop, the camera was working fine, so it isn't a hardware problem. I recently changed my OS to Windows XP Pro SP3.
The software (both the Orbicam software and the thing in My Computer for windows that usually lets you use the camera) say that another software is using the camera.
Do you guys have any idea of what I can do to fix my problem? Thank you.

The 5672 and 5670 are kissing cousins. It's a know issue for these and possibly other models. **edit** here is a link - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=372717 (again if windows is seeing the device and not connecting and disconnecting you don't have this issue... but you might soon)
If you have installed SP3 you will need to update your drivers for that camera model. There was an issue between that and some previous revisions of software (itunes and skype come to mind here).
Do you have any other 3rd party software that might be controlling the device? For example Windows XP has a built in camera software tool under My Computer (which you mentioned).
At the same time there is also a tool under the Logitech software that will allow you to connect and properly use the camera.
Hope this explains what your problem might be. If you have any further questions let me know.

The other thing you can do is download the latest drivers off of Logitech's site.
I've had better luck with those since SP3 came out on my acer.
Best of luck. -
I'm going to try again to put these drivers from the acer site then see if windows update has any more for me.
I tried going onto the logitech site but haven't the foggiest clue where I could find what you mentioned. What tool do you mean?
As for 3rd party devices, only the windows default tool, and that gives the same error, with or without the software installed.
Thanks for your help so far.
Edit: so such luck with finding new drivers on windowsupdate. So far nothing is working.
