    Hello All...

I recently did a reformat and install of XP Pro SP2 on my 5672, and now if the laptop sits for a while, say overnight, or all day while I am away; I have to reboot in order to get the system resources at a managable number.

I used the drivers guide posted earlier, and am unsure why this is being caused.

When I try and bring up the Task Manager to check a process, it never gets to that point, just sits there and waits.

    Ideas? Suggestions?

    Thanks
    Marc

Sounds like some sort of memory leak either with a driver or process. I believe that this computer has the 3945ABG wireless card. There is a known issue with his driver and it causes a serious memory leak.

Assuming that you are using the wireless features, this could be the culprit. Follow this link to download the latest driver if you have not already done so.

Otherwise, if you can, look at the process running under the Windows Task Manager. Look for anything that is using large amounts of resources. Another area to look would be some sort of malware infection. Update you virus definitions and download either SpyBot or Ad-Aware and scan your computer in safe-mode.

    Good Luck!
