Hello, I used a software trick to soft-mod the mobility radeon X1600 to the mobility FireGL V5200. You can find out how to do this (at your own risk, I take no liability if anything goes wrong etc) at the www.guru3d.com forums.
Since the X1600 is under clocked for the 5672 (I don't know to what), I don't know if this has any adverse affects compared to mobility x1600s in any other notebooks...
Regardless, a couple of things I noticed: The fan turns on a LOT less... and the laptop feels cooler. NHC reports my CPU temps at around 57. Don't know what this is in terms of average values, but I'm actually finding the laptop more comfortable to use (my hands dont get all sweaty and stuff anymore).
The program I installed this mod for was Pro/E, which now runs perfectly on this laptop (was completely incompatible with normal X1600 drivers).
Anyways, this post is just a heads up that you can turn your X1600 into a V5200 (like the expensive IBM's have!) and make your 5672 into a workstation notebook for 3D/CAD/etc. I don't know what's up with the cooler temps, might be a fluke, but it honestly seems cooler.
