If its going from 1.2GHz to 2.1GHz in CPU-Z, then everything is working perfect. Thats how EIST works, the frequency will be throttled up when the CPU power is required by the system to run a thread.

hi again.i cheked on the event viewer and is full off the same error:"performance management features on processor 1 are disabled due to a firmware problem.check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware".what the f*** is happening?this is on vista home premium sp1.motherboard is gl960 like aspire 5315

i've noticed that pc wizzard 2008 is monitiring the frequensy correctly but another thing is that the power plans not working right.when i set it to max performance it doesn't lock the cpu freq to max but it works like the balance power scheme, and in power saver doesnt lock the processor in lowest speed.hope someone helps as i don' see much interest to my problem

This seems to be an old Vista SP1 problem and I've no idea if it's being fixed. There are a lots of reports for this problem but I couldn't find a single suggestion for how to fix it. Many people say though that this "error" does nothing bad - so it's not an actual error, check for example this page. Maybe you have the SP1/SP2 beta/RTM/RC?
By the way I have the same laptop - 5715z - and I've never experienced this problem. -
I encountered this problem when moving from a T5550 to a T9300 in a 5315.
I had the same errors in the event log and the temperature management didn't work properly, causing the cpu to overheat and crash the system when being stress tested.
If you reinstall Vista it will identify the cpu features correctly and the error messages will go away.
