    Hi all,

    Just looking for some information/help here.

    Is there any software available that would let me control the fan on an Acer 5735? Speedfan doesn't work... Probably incompatible with the chipset, but for some reason can read the sensors on the CPU but wont let me control the fan.

    The fan seems to be making a vibrating kind of noise when at full speed... It's always did this but now the noise just grates on me. I've cleaned the heatsink of dust (not that there was much) but it still seems to vibrate/rattle.

    Has anyone noticed this with their 5735 fan? Also, would it be even possible to replace this fan with another from an Acer laptop?

    Thanks in advance for any help :)

    Most likely nothing's gonna work as basically there are no apps to control fan- there are few but these just work on several models and that's it.
    You shouldn't change the fan for a fan meant for another model as you may reduce airflow this way which may cause overhearing.
    Some Acer models use more than one model of fan- that could be a safe solution.

    EDIT: Fan part number is 60.ATR01.003- there may be up to three available FOXCONN, ROBIN, CCI

    Thanks for the prompt reply :)

    The fan used on the 5735 seems to be setup that the air is concentrated on exiting the rear vent where it cools down the heatsink fins in the process, so I shouldn't think changing the fan would cause any harm as the they are all practically do the same job? I'm just wondering though, if there would be any compatibility issues when changing the the fan with a different Acer model? I have a spare Dell 6400 which I may substitute the fan with the Acer to see if that works...

    What I meant is that cooling systems are custom-designed. Fan and radiator are paired together- if you have a smaller radiator you need a fan that puts more air through it- either a bigger one or one that's spinning faster. If on the other hand you have a bigger radiator you can use a smaller/slower fan.
    Fan has a certain "throughput"- how much air (cubic feet per second) can it move. It's being controlled by notebook by means of changing voltage to achieve a desired rpm and thus throughput.

    This is how fan parameters look like for 5735
    Temp in *C------> Fan rpm
    45-50 ---------->0-3000
    55-66 ---------->0-3300
    68-74 ---------->3300-3800
    78-83 ---------->3800-4100
    86-91 ---------->4100-4800

    This data is for certain fan meaning i.e. 3800rpm means X cubic feet of air per second going through the radiator resulting in pre-calculated decrease of temperature of the CPU. You can't just say "a fan is a fan as long as it blows air in the right direction".

    Is there a way to change that profile?

    I'd love to change it for my Aspire 7520.

    I don't know- it's somewhere in the BIOS but since your unit uses InsydeH2O BIOS it's unlikely that anyone will be able to mod it.
