Hello everyone, I have been frequenting these forum for some time just looking at the threads and looking at the reviews when i was about to purchase a new laptop. I ended up getting the acer aspire 5740. Now i have a reason to post a question.

I am very happy with the laptop, i just have one concern. I was thinking about getting a cooling fan just to keep the laptop cool not because its necessary or anything. Looking at the underneath, it doesn't seem like the ventilation is enough. I have 2 pictures here showing the only two intake for air and an output for the hot air. One of the intake is where the Memory goes. The area indicated in yellow, is where it seems a hole should be to take in air but its sealed. My thoughts is, this is there for those versions with dedicated graphic card.

My question is do you guys think this is enough, and that i won't have heating problems? Does anybody have heat related issues with this model? Thanks.

the yellow circled slot in picture 2 is the only air intake slot in this chassis while the red one in this same picture is the only output for the hot air

and as you can see the main and only air vent is blocked & this have been a problem ever since my model the 5738G and I contacted Acer and told them about it .... a couple of months later I saw the new 5740Gs coming with that vent opened

Have you been having problems with your 5738G? I am considering make some actual cuts there for air intake

I actually did some cuts in the vents places but I wouldn't recommend it really because it looks like S*** & it makes only like 4-7 degrees diff.

well the only major diff is that it actually enables you to use a cooling pad because without the vents cooling pads were absolutely useless
