I would like to confirm with anyone else that has this series motherboard whether they have the B3 revision or whether they have opened it to find SATA 0 and 1 being used only.
Any laptops of this include those that have the second gen Intel processor (mainly i5 and i7). My specific chip is the HM65.

In the post BIOS says the HDD is in the port 0 and the dvdrw in the port 2, so, with the HDD we haven't problems but posibily yes with the dvd.
Anyway, in the acer site says is no problem with this notebook and the intel's chipset bug. -
No problem? Is that because of DVD tending to use minimal power unlike the HD? I like this laptop, but I don't want to see my dvd fail.

The intel's chipset issue "only" affects to SATA2 ports, that meens ports 2 to 5, the ports 0 and 1 are SATA3 and are not affected.
The website of acer has an especific page for determinate witch model it's affected with this fail, but i don't know is 100% reliable cause in theory with the intel's article is affected. I searched my 5750G notebook and it says i don't have to do anything cause the notebook, theoretically from acer, is not affected.
I don't know if the 5750G optical drive get in failure in a couple of months or works fine for years. The time will say that. -
Theoretically :/
That's displeasing. After dealings with HP I've come to believe that not all "factory recalls" are truthful. In fact I've had a DVD drive fail on the HP, nothing wrong with the DVD drive... definitely not fun to have.
I small contact with new egg didn't give me anywhere to really go. Developer is going to say go to the marketer, and likewise. I had a previous acer computer (lasted quite a while), that I took apart and broke ^_^ so I don't have any bad memories with them.
One more small question: is the 5750g the only mobo affected?
It seems that the 5742g, 5742, and 5750 should all have similar motherboards. I would find it odd to have all 2nd gen models having the B2 revision 4 months AFTER B3 release. -
I don't know certainly, but reading what the intel's article says, the B2 versions of the HM65 and HM67 mobile chipsets are affected, so, if the other notebooks uses one of these chipsets and the revision is B2, they are affected too.
-
Don't know if this is relevant but checking "Intel Rapid Store Technology" as well as the device on "my computer" lists the HD in slot 0 and DVD in slot 1.
This should be correct, but I wouldn't know what to believe. -
