So after wanting to upgrade the screen to FHD, I found out the keyboard backlit mod.
I found a backlit keyboard that fits multiple series of Acers on ebay.
I simply searched Acer 5755G backlit keyboard.
People were saying how 5v from USB is too much power and too bright. I found another solution.
I tapped into the power from the circuit board from the power button.
It's a separate circuit board that holds the power button and led and it plugs into the motherboard.
There were some free unused solder points for cable sockets. I used a multimeter and found 3.5v.
I wanted power from a source which would allow me to remove the keyboard in one piece without desoldering the wires, so this was perfect!!!
The brightness is perfect for a dark room... if only I could get the screen even MORE dim.
I hope this helps others.

Can you show the place on the motherboard where you have connected the power for keyboard?

I didn't connect it to the motherboard. As stated in my post, I soldered wires to a separate circuit board that holds the power button.
There was spare unused solder points. I used a multimeter to find which pins were positive and negative.
The seperate circuit board then plugs into the motherboard.propolkin likes this. -
I resoldered it to the small PCB of the power button. Took a while but I found 2 pins that receive power when the laptop is on and no power when it's off.
It's soldered from left to right, pin 1 and pin 6.
Hope it helps.
