Hello folks. I am new here, but I just bought a used 5810. I just discovered that it doesn't have bluetooth, and while looking for internal solutions I took the bottom cover off to find this (see attachment).

The marking on the board just above says SSD1, which I suspect to be Solid State Drive 1. . . Is this a SATA, mini PCI-e? Are they the same? Is this what I am looking for to take advantage of the slot? Acer support is useless and can't tell me anything since my warranty is up.

It seems that there are at least two mini PCI-e spots on the board, one is soldered with a connection and houses the wireless card, and another next to it that does not have a connector soldered. So, is this the one I would use to connect a 3G WWan card?

Thanks in advance for the help, and I am sorry if the picture isn't clear enough. . . I just can't seem to get a steady enough hand.

A sata connector is different to mini PCIe.

That does look like some sort of sata connector.

And it looks like that adapter you found on ebay might work.

I don't know much about your notebook, but for $10 it's probably worth a try.

Yes, after a little more research, it does appear as if the SSD was the proper assumption. So I guess I would need a cradle, connector, and a drive.

    Thanks all for your help.

Now, the extra mini PCI-e that doesn't have a connector. All I need to do to use it should be to have a professional solder the connector to the board, correct? And, I believe I have found an appropriate WWan card, but I can't seem to find the connector to take advantage of the SIM slot. . . What am I doing wrong?

I am sorry that I had to start a new thread, but all the mods seemed to talk about the 3810, 4801 and not the 5810 specifically, so I wanted to be sure.

OK, so I got the part, and it is a SATA connector.

Here is a good image of the part I have. If I were to remove the tabs on the sides and in the middle, this would fit in that slot perfect. But I wonder, since it is there, shouldn't there be a connector available for this?

So I just contacted Acer, and they proved to be useless. They sent me to some authorized Acer parts distributor, but they don't have an idea either.

Found this. . . seems to be a viable solution. . . if only I can get just the adapter. . .
