Sorry looked around but couldn't find the answer![]()
So since i bought my laptop which was in Feb. Even on the first boot i got a freeze or a slow down when you try to ie. copy files and browse at the same time or just using PS. Means the laptop get choppy and CPU load goes 100% and it doesnt stop unless you restart it. (I had tried waiting before left it copying files to a hdd and froze and didnt manage to finish copying till the morning and it was freezing up in the morning)
I changed from Vista to W7 but that never helped either?
Was just wondering is this a hardware or a software issue? Cause one of my college class mates said his brother has an acer laptop and hes getting the same stuff
After times of freezing up on me im sending the laptop away to acer finally on friday![]()

Make sure Intel Rapid Storage Driver is installed not Matrix Storage.
-
EDIT: Its the laptop with dual graphics card if that makes a difference. Theres far too many models at the same number :S -
I suggest you check out the clean install guide and find your own drivers. Acer don't find the latest greatest driver for you. In that aspect they suck.
I suggest you check out this thread, noma has kindly rounded up all the better drivers for Acer Timeline users.
And check out this thread to find out how to get Windows 7 clean installed without any crapware on your laptop.
I promise it will be spanking fast after you did as describe in those threads. -
Oh i did install Windows 7 without bloat ware. Then went on the acer site and downloaded the specified drivers from there. Just still get the freezes. And it kills when im doing some college work or copying files and it freezes.
Anyway ill see how it goes after installing intel rapid storage.
Thanks
Btw whats the difference between rapid and matrix storage intel driver? -

Rapid storage is writen from the ground up AFAIK and provides some nice performance and stability increases.

still froze on me last night. Launched ASC and while it was defraging i clicked on a windows notification and it froze. That was just after clean install :S

so is there no perm fix for this?
-
Please check your RAM with memtest86+. Let it run at least over night, the longer the better.

thanks will try this.

Got the laptop back today from the repair center. They changed the keyboard. Could that have caused the freezing?
And Looks like they installed a newer version of vista with more acer stuff than i had when i bought it.
