Hi Guys,
I've recently bought Asus U46, but will probably return it as the screen is absolutely disgusting.
Which is why I'm considering 5830tg. My question is quite simple - how much of an issue is throttling? I am more than happy to use throttle stop if that is what it takes, but I would still like to know what is the temprerature of both the CPU and GPU under stress while using throttle stop (without underclocking any of the components). I am interested in the i7 2620 540m config.
Also, is the screen any good (my main concern is eye strain and not resolution).
Cheers

Have you considered something else in the same price-range?
HP Pavilion dv6-6150ew is quite tempting- 15" specs basically match 5830TG apart from GPU which is better on HP (6770 2GB DDR5) and the fact that HP has Blu-Ray and Acer doesn't.
For all I know it doesn't have throttling issues as well.
Prices are similar where I live.
Acer does work with ThrottleStop but you're buying something that is defective by design- cooling system is not good enough and provided how much time Acer had to fix this issue, it's safe to assume that northing's gonna be done about it. -
I would consider it... If it was available in the UK. I don't think it's coming to this side of the pond...

I'm in continental Europe so it's kinda here. I don't think HP would forget about UK so it's probably around the corner.

UK is special... Everything is in low supply here, if it is in supply at all.
Acer 5830tg - throttling a big issue or not?
