What is the difference between these two sets of drivers (laptopvideo2go.com)??? The Acer drivers on their driver FTP site seem to be 156.xx series! How can there be three completely different series of drivers, not just different version numbers. You can tell that I'm rather confused about which driver to choose - it seems to be a complete lottery..!

I'm starting to get annoyed at my current drivers because they leave strange patterns on objects when I turn on A.Aliasing and A.Filtering in the Source engine, whereas I've seen screenshots of Acer 5920 (8600M GT) users running 16x AF with no anomalies at all.

I don't want to overclock. I'm just an average joe type of user that wants stablility, no overheating and performance :S I realise that graphics drivers take up so much space in these forums, but I would quite like to hear from Acer users. Thanks :)

Well it's not a very easy question. First you should look here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16866 . It's post with explanation of NVIDIA driver series. Anyway higher numbers does not always mean newer driver. Besides not all drivers support powermizer. In my opinion nvidia drivers for vista are not as good as for xp. In almost any version I tryed I found some problems. Now I use 174.74 version and no major issues. Recently I was playing in assassin's creed. Only once driver had some problems. Anyway no blue screens, hangs, artifacts etc. I recommend this driver especially for 8600M users.

I guess that the OEM drivers (that seem to have an Acer .inf on laptopvideo2go.com) are more reliable and specifically tailored to our brand of laptops? Shouldn't give any problems if installed properly?
