Hello guys, I just bought my 5920 a month ago, it's fantastic. (=

I can't seem to turn off my microphone. When I try to set my microphone to 0 volume and mute, it is still active. Only when I disabled the "playback" volume on the microphone tab through the Acer HD Audio Manager, then it was disabled. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have the same laptop and same problem. If I turn the volume up it starts to make a whistle noise I hate it. I don't know what to do. :(

hi I had the same problem but I figured it out

Go to Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound> Recording Tab > Front Mic.

Then you can either go to Device Usage in the bottom of that window and select "Don't use this device (disable)"

or to go the "levels" tab and mute the sound from the mic by clicking the sound icon or decreasing the volume.

you can do all this but what you need to change is the "boost"
I turned my boost level all the way down and I was so happy

    hope this works for you

I'm not sure what your problem is.... I had a similar problem where the mic was always picking up he sound of tapping keys, etc. but I fixed it by disabling "playback" in the microphone tab in HD audio.

That stopped my mic from picking up and playing sounds through the speaker when the speakers are up, but it still records audio when using it with an application. What else are you trying to do?
