2 years ago, I bought an external DVB-T Reciever from Terratec, so I could watch television on my computer. Now, I want to use the Terratec remote control that came with it, so I can control mediacenter from a distance. But i don't know how I can make the Infrared reciever that came with the laptop to recognize my remote. Does someone has a solution for this? I tried WinLirc, but it didn't work and it's not really a user-friendly program I must say :D
Can I make it work, or can you only use original microsoft windows media center remote controls?

I know it doesn't help you get your control working, but I recommend getting the Microsoft Media Remote. As well as being fully compatible with Media Centre, it has many more functions that your current remote. E.g. lights up in the dark.

Additionally, I base this upon a tv tuner I bought, but the controls are not always IR. Sometimes they use a shortwave radio frequency to communicate.
