    Hiya,

I've had the Acer 5920 for about 6 months ago and everything has been working great.

However, in the last couple of weeks or so the sceen has started to flicker occassionally.

There doesn't seem to be any apparent reason for it. Is anyone else having similar problems and know how I might fix it?

    Thanks,

can you describre the flicker in more detail?? does the entire screen go blank?

does it just dim in brightness??

either way it doesn't sound good.... and would be something i'd consider contacting Acer about... (especially if there is no EVIDENT physical damage on the laptop)

Hi. I've just joined this forum. I've had my 5920 for the last 5 weeks and the last 2 weeks i've had a screen flicker too. Sometimes its quite bad. Can you tell me what you did to solve your problem?

    Hello Chaps

I to purchased my Acer Aspire 5920 in December 2008 and 2 months later the screen started flickering. By tilting the screen the problem would go away or get worse.

Here is how to fix the problem though it may void your warranty. You need to remove the power board cover (This is where the blue lit On/Off button is). To do this you need to remove 5 screw's. 3 are under the battery and the other two are each side of the battery towards the back of the laptop.

You then need to prise the power board cover upwards. A small flat head scred driver is useful. Near the left and right hand corners (using the screw driver if required) pull it upwards and the clips holding it should give way.

From the top view you will see on the left hand side the cable that connects to the LCD screen. It may have a label on it with ZD1 LDC Cable. If you look closely you will see that the round cable is threaded through the left hinge. The problem is that it has been pulled very tight during manufacture and is putting a strain on the connector when the lid is up.

What I did was to gently pull the cable towards the right as there was plenty of slack there. If you are feeling brave then it may be worth unplugging the lcd cable connector and reseating it as I did.

Touch wood but the problem has gone away.

    Good luck.

i have had the same problem. first i didn't know what it was i had warranty and i did send my laptop back to acer, when it came back nothing changed and still got the flashes in screen (weird that acer didn't fix the problem) so i did hopefully a gpu driver update at the nvidia site and i choosed the 179.XX driver and i do not have flashes in the screen anymore. the 185,186 drivers aren't doing a great job on this laptop...

so try to instal a 179,XX driver from nvidia (gues you have nvidia) and the problem should be fixed.

    good luck :D
