Im connecting my Acer Aspire 5920G laptop to a Toshiba 42Z3030D HDTV via HDMI. Now the picture does come up on the HDTV but its streatched. I can only see half of the Vista start button.... it appears to be stretched around all 4 sides.

Ive tried lowering the reolution from 1028*764 (I think thats the one.... its the highest the laptop goes to), but its still stretched. I dont know if its a setting on the laptop or the TV I need to change.

Also, HDMI carries sound right? Because I cant get any sound out of the TV speakers. I run the Raeltek test sounds but they dont come out the laptop speakers nor the TV.

Please help... I really want to watch HD movies via the Laptop

    Thanks

I tried using my Sony 50" HD TV to play Toca Race Driver 3 through my 5920g laptop. The sound was the easy bit. go into control panel, hit the sound icon (classic view) then select Realtek HDMI Output and hit 'Set Default' at he bottom. This will transfer the sound from your laptop via the HDMI cable to your TV, but there will be no sound coming from your laptop. To reverse this procedure and get your laptop speakers working again, just do the same as before but select 'Speakers'
My problem with the picture was not stretched, but it kept flickering, like the refresh rate was too much or something. If you go into Nvidia control panel, then 'change display configuration' then you can adjust your settings there to alter how your TV receives the picture from your laptop.
I tried all ways, but always the flicker was there, so I gave up lol.

HDMI should carry 5.1 DD sound, but it seems at acer it only carries stereo sound.
