    Hi guys,

Like almost everybody i got sick off vista and installed a xp install
everything is running smooth expept for 2 things.

I can't seem to change my brightness settings. is there something i'm missing here. I tried installing the power management tool from acer hoping that would resolve this problem. But the driver would not install (needed to be vista)

I hope someone has the answer, cause now my screen brightness is way to low!.

    Hello Incursis,
Thanks for the respons but the Acer empowering Tech could not be installed (upon install it asks for vista)

About the hotkeys, my native language is not english, can you specify what FN stands for please ?

    thanks!

he means the FN butten next to your left cntrl button, u can use that in combination with the right/left bttn to adjust the screen brigthness.

    guess it worked then :)

Do u mean when u close the lid the system does not go into standby? Wanting the system come out of standby when closing the lid sounds kinda weird hehe.. In control panel u can go to poweroptions and there under the tab advanced u can set some action according the lid.

    Hé Jezzer,
yeahh it worked with the fn button.

About the other problem, its after i closed my lid he goes in stand by as he should. But then when i open my lid again and try to wake him, the screen stays black. And i'm forced to reboot him with a hard reset.

It's probable STAND BY - Wake UP problem when You close and reopen lid, try to load new Bios from Acer it should solve the problem.

ive just put xp (sp2) on my 5920 and tried the fn keys to lower the brightness (which used to work with the acer empowering software). it just brings up xp's power management tool, which has schemes, alarms, power meter, advanced and hibernate. there is no option to lower the brightness. am i looking in the right place? ive tried all the f keys with fn :(

    edit:sorry, found it! it's (quoting)

“Fn” key (blue one at left bottom) + left or right arrow - this way you can easily control the brightness… without any other tool…
