I just purchased the 5920G with a 8600GT card and HD-DVD drive. I can't seem to get it to output any 1080i to my Toshiba 50HX83 TV (older RPCRT). If I leave the configuration in the default settings, I can see the Windows screen on my HDMI input on the TV (i.e., HDMI to DVI cable), but a) the screen is oversized and I don't get the entire window on the TV and b) when I play HD-DVDs I do not get anything on the TV (just a black screen).

I tried changing the display configuration to Dual Display to be able to set a different resolution on the TV, but when I do that all I get is an "Acer" screen saver sort of picture on my TV, and nothing else. I've tried every different resolution on the TV and it still doesn't work, same thing, just a different sized Acer screen saver picture on the TV?

What the heck am I doing wrong!?

    Thanks!

Okay, another problem. Not sure why, but now when I run the HDDVD test disc that came with the laptop, the picture has a white cast to it. As if the brightness was turned up well beyond 100%. This is on the laptop itself, as I still have not had any luck getting the picture on to the TV.

    Thanks!

    Update your VGA card driver.

Tried updating it but there are none that are newer on the Acer site and I understand the Laptop2go drivers have some issues with them, so I tried this one from the Toshiba site which was reccomended for Acer:

In any event, that didn't work either (Vista kept telling me I had the most up to date driver.

Next issue, the HD-DVD drive now doesn't work at all. The disc keeps skipping (tried two HD-DVD discs and one standard DVD disc and niether would load). Very frustrating, guess I will try reinstalling the HD-DVD drive diver??

I also have problems getting the correct resolution when hooking up to my HDTV via HDMI. I think it is just the fact that my HDTV is older, and I have not had a chance to test it on a different, newer HDTV.

I am using up to date drivers.

Okay, looks like all I had to do was set the TV as the primary display. That fixed that issue.
