I have a 5920G which I allready reflowed, reballed too many times and replaced with another second hand Nvidia 8600M, which is now faulty again by the way....

My question is, I read some looong time ago, that someone managed to Boot with internal Intel GMX X3100 instead of the NVIDIA (with the card removed from its slot)

I remove the card but get a black screen when I turn on..
Do you guys know if there is Bios MOD for this Laptop so I can Force it to boot with Intel GMA instead even with card removed from Slot?

My sister only uses it for googling and Facebook so no GFX power needed at all, dont want to spend another 90$ for another card.

Any ideas? Found a few Threads with similar topics but nothing conclusive, so is there a way or is the laptop doomed?

    Thanks!

There is the option to choose between GPUs in the BIOS (if you get to edit it, it's not there in the stock BIOS), but I'm not sure if it would require some soldering as well.

Hey Triturbo thanks for the reply.

Im a bit confused, you say there is the option to choose between GPU, but then you say its not in the Stock Bios.

Do you mean I need to get a Bios somewhere else and edit it to get that possibility??? Where from?

And why would I have to do some soldering on the board?? Are you sure ACER would design this board without GMA bootabilty on purpose??
Sounds too much hassle, time and money, when they can do they same thing disabling in BIOS, right?
Where can I get more info on that?

    Thanks again!

I've compared both boards and they have some differences around the MXM socket and the fan.

As for the BIOS - I came across this option while browsing around our BIOS with Phoenix BIOS Editor. I don't remember where was this option though. If you want I can take a look, try to modify it and then post it here for you to try it.

What's this? If it's the modded BIOS, have you tested it?

5920G has PM45 northbridge, i.e. no Intel GMA, or am I missing something?

Actually it is PM965 and it has integrated graphics, it's just not activated. Guess what the 5920 (without G) uses - X3100, which is where ;)
