Before you purchase this notebook, make sure you confirm with the supplier the exact model you are receiving. Click one of the link below, choose your country of origin in the drop down box and find you notebook model.

For instance, the page shows there is only one model circulating in the UK. http://www.acer.co.uk/acereuro/page...tx4=United+Kingdom&crc=1345599010#inu57_44069
    And Bluetooth is NOT included.

However in Germany, they have 4 configurations in circulation.
    http://www.acer.de/acereuro/page4.d...-1&ctx4=Deutschland&crc=562424459#inu57_42139
Bluetooth does not prevail in any of these notebooks.

Make sure you know which one you are supposed to receive, or be disappointed!

Yes it seems unfair that the US has the most fully specced model compared to Europe.
    http://us.acer.com/acereuro/page4.d...ctx4=United+States&crc=3290301162#inu57_42114

Maybe some of us Europeans haven't realised how to use this newfangled technology called bluetooth...

    Acer Aspire 5920G 302G20HN

    C2D 2,0Ghz T7300
    2GB RAM, 200GB HDD
    8600M GT 512MB
    Bluetooth, 1GB Turbo-Memory,
    digital TV tuner (DVB-T)
    HD-DVD
camera (us models don't have it according to ACER's site)
    8 cell battery
    Vista Ultimate

It's somewhere around 1730€ including VAT (22% in my country)

Ouch. I'll take my £365 in savings :D

But for comparative model prices, I still think that the US gets the best deal. I mean you can get a HD-DVD equipped notebook for less than £700. Damn exchange rates.

There are actually two models available in the UK now. Comet are selling the 5920 with bluetooth fitted I think.

Comet rarely have the correct spec sheets, so I wouldn't trust what they state. The page for the 5920 at comet has been taken down recently...

Actually, 2 (the last two listed) of the German models, and the USA model, *do* include bluetooth.

I assume other models will apear in the UK soon (within the next 2 - 3 months maybe) - otherwise it appears we have very little choice compared to other countries. I'm waiting for a while before purchasing (plus deciding between the Aspire 5920 and the TravelMate 5720G (see - https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_TravelMate_5720G-302G16_LX.TK30X.033/version-1.asp).

I'm annoyed at the lack of Bluetooth in the UK Aspire 5920 £799 models, as all the magazine and website reviews I have seen state that the laptop includes bluetooth, and I think it shows that Acer UK seems to disregard customers in the UK ("lets give them a lower spec model, they won't notice"). I have heard that some magazines will retract/withdraw review awards given if a manufacturer cannot supply "ordinary" customers with a model to the specification as per the reviewed item (within a specified time frame, say 3 months) ...

P.S. I have also heard somewhere ( http://www.theacerguy.com ?) that TESCO may be getting the Aspire 5920 in stock sometime (maybe in August) - just rumours of course at the moment!

There are many configurations to the Acer 5920G... Thankfully, you can upgrade to any one of them.. You can change the processor because it is in a zif zocket. You can add intel turbo-memory because the spot for it is there. You can add bluetooth because that spot for it is also there. You can also change out the intel wireless card, from a 3xxxxxxx to a 4xxxxxxx and add wireless "n". You can also upgrade the videocards MXM II module.

This notebook, reguardless of configuration will be around for a long time.

Searched on google, the model number that comet had, and the LG number, finished with 69, not 15.

However, comet are selling it for £899 I think. £100 more for built in bluetooth isn't worth it at all.

Agreed that £100 extra is too much for just including Bluetooth (when USB Bluetooth "dongles" are £20 or less) - however, I understand that Comet have taken the page referring to 5920 offline for now, so we can't be sure what the final price is yet. Also, mailorder companies (e.g. Laptops Direct) will probably be cheaper. In addition to that, all the UK reviews of the 5920 have stated that the laptop includes Bluetooth at £799 - so really the model including Bluetooth should be £799!

    I'll see what happens though...

I think they will charge a little more for bluetooth.

That said, it's cost me about £35 to add bluetooth and tv tuner functionality to my 5920.
If you're looking for identical bluetooth specs to the in-built one in some 5920,
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/o/ASIN/B000...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=139042191&pf_rd_i=468294
This seems like a good deal.

Plus, you can use it to transfer data from other devices that might not have bluetooth. E.g. Desktop pc to phone. Same with the tv-tuner...its transferable. Sometimes not built-in has its advantages.

Thanks for the link (to USB Bluetooth adaptor). Would an external Bluetooth adaptor work with the 5920's built-in Bluetooth button / key? (If it doesn't, that's the sort of thing that would really annoy me - having "dummy" buttons that can never be used as intended).

I agree - sometimes external devices have an advantage (i.e. portability between computers, plus you can choose the components yourself). However, internal integrated devices can free up USB sockets, plus I sometimes find that some of these bulky USB devices can get easily knocked out of the socket, or at least come loose. Also, in my case, the laptop would become my main (possibly only) computer, so portability would be less of an issue to me.

I still think Acer should include bluetooth in the £799 price point, as that is what reviewers were sent and based their "awards" upon. If the bluetooth model is say £30 (or less) extra, I may consider it.

Thanks again for the info. I'm probably going to wait a while before purchasing anyway, to see if any other UK models of the 5920 become available, and to wait for any issues / bugs (including video driver issues) to be worked out etc.

So it looks like you've confirmed that the 5920 does have a ZIF socket. Do you think you can swap out a T7xxx series processor at some point when they come down in price? And an 88xxM processor when they come out and then come down in price?

    Until I see
LX.AGW0X.169, I would be sceptical that it is the bluetooth model.

Imagine if with the Xbox 360, they sold the unit for a month without a HDMI cable. Then the next month, they included it for the same price. All those who bought it early would be annoyed.

This is just my prediction, but I think the bluetooth model will go for around £819.99

I was actually thinking of buying a bluetooth dongle the other day cause I felt my machine (5920) was missing something...then I realised I didn't have any bluetooth devices to use with it!! :D
Bluetooth printers and cameras are still rare and a little pricy.

I've seen another Acer, whereby somebody took the module out of a usb bluetooth dongle, and soldered it to one of their USB ports...
Seems a waste of a usb port. But the person got their wish of an internal bluetooth...

I can't see where it would fit in the acer 5920... If anyone had pics, and could circle where bluetooth would go, that would be helpful.

well, if there is a dedicated bluetooth button there should be a place for a module internaly.

Yes I'm sure there is, on "theacerguy.com" blog, it was asked to an employee of Acer HQ UK if this could be done, and the answer was yes.

I'm sure Firewire is as standard though. Anyways, I would rather have bluetooth than firewire for the £799.
