    Acer 5920G Nvdia failure > ati upgrade but problem encounted

    friend Acer 5920G stopped working due to GPU failure. Card was Nvdia 8600M GS

    Advice was taken from here and I purchased ATI 3650 from Ebay.

    Thought it would straight swap > laptop on and appears to boot up but just before going into windows black screen appears and nothing.
    I put some thermal compound in cente but left the original pads in place (see picture)

    Am I doing something wrong here? please help me
