    Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me with this problem that I may have (unsure at this stage) with a recently bought Acer 5920G laptop – I am new to this genre of PCs, as my previous ones have all been desktop PCs.
Technical specs of laptop: Intel core Duo Processor – T5450, graphics card Geforce 8600m GS 256MB, 2GB DDR2 memory, 250GB HD.
The laptop was bought a couple of days ago (New Years Day) from Comet Electricals (UK).

The fan appears to turn on and off at very frequent intervals even when I am just browsing the internet, approximately 5-15 minutes after switch on. I didn’t notice this, when I first purchased it- is this a problem?

I haven’t modified the software or hardware structure of the laptop since purchasing it.

I have installed the Speedfan 4.33 programme and it appears to have detected both core temperatures – running between 48-52 degrees centigrade, but I do not think that I have set this up correctly as I read in another thread that they need to be adjusted by 15 degrees – please instruct on how this can be achieved- if required?

The left hand palm rest is warm to touch, the right cold.
The back and underneath is also fairly warm.

Is the fan meant to be running like this or am I just too over cautious, if it is a problem I will need to take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement?

I have also heard that the Acer after sales customer care returns / repairs policy is not up to scratch. They send the product on to another company and reading through some other posts, customers do not get their product repaired properly, it gets missing in transit, etc. Is this true? Although I did take out the stores extended insurance policy?

    Thanking people in advance
    Anthony
