Hi all, well, basically I live in Cyprus serving as a squaddie so it takes like 3 weeks for electronics to get delivered to me. I was super chuffed to get my laptop today but upon loading up windows for the first time, I have some dead keys on the keyboard. Now if I was in the UK, Id send the laptop back ASAP but tbh, posting it back via forces post is loads of hassle and will take up to over a month plus expensive and Im not really willing to wait that long.
My question is, is it hard to fix the keys myself, is there a guide anywhere? Im proper stressed about this and sooooo annoyed as Ive waited so long for it to finally come. Is it a hard/expensive job for a pc shop to repair it? Thanks for your advice, a rather miffed an gutted,

Try cleaning up the keyboard first. Or buy a new keyboard from ebay....

i'm with andy... many acer keyboards can be purchased for $10 to $20us on ebay... and repairing keys is not likely a realistic option,,, unless you just need to re-seat the keyboard ribbion cable in the KEYBOARD CONNECTOR...
that is where i would start... and if no luck there,, time to order a replacement keyboard -
now this my not be the case but....when a friend had a laptop delivered over seas. the language settings where all wrong and he had a few dead keys. but the dead keys worked when using shortcuts.check keyboard settings in control panel
then im with BigO. maybe in transit the connector has popped out a touch.
Keep your head down and stay safe mate.

EDIT: can you get your hands on a USB keyboard ?
try that if possible
