Can anyone tell me why this is?

Up until recently everything has been ok. I have my 5920G set to screensaver after 5 mins then monitor after 1hr and hibernation after 2hrs. In hibernation the blue standby light around the standby switch would flash orange and the battery light would flash orange too. But for some reason it wont go into hibernation and do this anymore, it just sits there blue with the monitor in standby i.e. black screen, any ideas why this is?

Also slightly off topic, any ideas why pages take so long to load. Ebay for some reason now is a complete nightmare!!!

Hope someone can shed some light!! :D

Probably because none of us knows what's causing the problem.

    Fair comment?

Hi, try either reinstall the video card drivers or updating them, or check the power settings to make sure it is actually using hibernate and not sleep

I have updated all video drivers to the latest Nvidia drivers, and also updated the acer empowering tech program. I have set all of my parameters but I have no option anywhere for hibernation, only sleep!!

    Any ideas??

hi zippy, my netbook acer aspire 8930G did the same when i tried to get it to go to sleep in vista...

this was because in my windows power settings i set the power setting to maximum performance... this changes an option so it then doesnt sleep.
i solved this by changing this back to its default and then going to my empowering technologies and putting it upto max performance in there instead of through windows as so i still get sleep mode without losing performance.

    hope this helps

Hi, if it is Vista have you managed to remove the hibernation file by running the cleaner from within disk cleanup? You can get it back following this advice:
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt or Cmd, and then click Run as Administrator on the pop up contextual menu.
If you are prompted by User Account Control for permission, click Continue.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    powercfg.exe -h on

Type exit, and then press ENTER.
