Hi,
I have a little problem and I hope someone can help out. This morning my notebook (Acer 5920G) wouldn't boot. It powers on, I see the hdd led blink a few times and that's it. No display no post no bleeps. The fan is spinning and it seems to spin faster if i leave the notebook on. So the mobo part that controls the fan is at least working![]()
Last night I was so tired and too lazy to properly shutdown. So i closed the lit to put it in sleepmode. But it still was running so lazy me held the Power button down for 5 secs to shut it down. I can imagine the HDD won't like it, but this...![]()
I tried connecting to an external screen (hdmi>tv & Fn+F5) nothing.. I tried disconnecting power>removing battery>30s power but>connect power>place battery but it doesnt help either.
I read that there were some known problems with the Closing-mechanism of the screen? When I shut the notebook down the screen was pulled half way down, so it could have something to do with the closing-mechanism, if there really are issues with that.
Any1 any ideas? Thnx in advance.

First idea: Remove the MXM card and see if you can hear Windows boot in the background. If you can => dead MXM card.

First of all tank you for replying!
Well I can hear the HDD isnt ratling enough to even approach Windows load. You really hear it for 1 sec and that's it. Nevertheless I removed the MXM card and the only difference I see then is that the backlight lits, but the rest is the same.
Tried removing the HDD hoping I would hear a beep or something, but no change. Checked memory replaced them with orignal.. everything stays the same.
Would there be any difference if I try connecting an ext screen with a VGA instead of connecting my TV with HDMI? I would have tried it already, but can't find any VGA cable :a.
Any other ideas? -
Probably the motherboard or the CPU then. Or possibly the BIOS, if you flashed recently.

Remove the heatsink and check if the CPU is Locked in the socket!
If it isn't locked the system won't boot! Blank screen, keyboard and mouse doesn't work! And if you pull out the graphics card you can see that the LCD Display will power up
It happened to me yesterday, when I was reassembling my 5920G after a total disassemble! I hadn't locked the CPU in the Socket and the computer wasn't booting -
Haven't flashed the BIOS for ages, so that shouldn't be the prob.
The CPU is locked in the socket so that too isn't the cause.
I too think that the mobo has issues. But as I understand there are no known issues with the screen closing-mechanism?
Although the warranty is expired I'm going to contact the store I bought it 3 years ago. I think a notebook should last more then 3 years.
