    Acer Website

    BestBuy website

Apparently I'm missing the 2.0 Ghz and Next Gen N-wireless from the Bestbuy one. They made it 1.5 Ghz and just A-B-G wireless. I read some topics and see that there is indeed a difference. I got mine for $1099(now it's $1299, great deal!), but I wish I could have had the 2.0 Ghz and the N-wireless(costs $100 for the card). Why did BestBuy take it out? How much would it cost(lowest price) if I got the one the Acer Website says it is?

    1. Anything else I"m missing from the BestBuy one besides CPU and N-wireless?

    2. Is Core 2 Duo 1.5 Ghz enough to run Crysis at medium? How much better would it run Crysis if it was 2.0 Ghz? Is 1.5 Ghz fine for most games(and in the future)?

Also..... No built in BlueTooth for the bestbuy model.

The processor is in a zif socket, it comes right out and you can put up to a 2.4ghz core 2 duo in there.

All games play fine with the 1.5ghz.... But way better with the laptopvideo2go 162.18 drivers.

Also missing is a mini pc-express female socket on the pc board where a Intel turbo memory module could go.

I just noticed something. My laptop says Aspire 5920, the website says 5920G. I always thought it was only 5920G. Is that the difference then? I would have rather gotten the G, but oh well, I got it for cheap anyways. If this isn't the difference, then what is?

You sure? I see this Bluetooth Button on the left side, doesn't that mean anything, or is that just for phone? I use wireless Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, but I use a USB Bluetooth to connect them. Had I gotten the better one, would I have still needed this adapter/usb?

    >I see this Bluetooth Button on the left side

Push it!!!! You'll see... No BlueTooth.... And there is no BlueTooth tag on the bottom of the notebook... And there is no BlueTooth in the device manager... Also look at the specs on the side of the box... No BlueTooth.. If you don't believe me then i don't what to tell you.. The "G" is on the model number on the tag underneith the notebook.

I don't understand, I can still PUSH it, it makes a click sound, and the words "No Device" in green pop up on the bottom of the screen. Well I'll still take your word, but this one has some sort of bluetooth in it.

This review has the one Acer showed on the website. In one of the pictures where it shows all the specs, I didn't see the words HD-DVD, which are on mine. If that one doesn't have HD-DVD, then I don't care about the processor, this was a purchase worth it if this is the only one with HD-DVD.

Is the best buy 1.5g version a santa rosa based chipset? It's kinda confusing, seeing that some reviews/previews say that the 5920 is a santa rosa but I think the bb version isnt. So whats that difference mean?

What i understood is there are three 5920 versions in the market..

1.5920-6661 Costs more than $1900 i think. Has all the features seen in the review.

2.5920-6649 Costs nearly $1500. Except for the processor (1.5 GHz Core 2 Duo) I felt all the other features of 6661 is present in this.

    3. 5920-6313 Costs nearly $1300. This I beleive doesn't have the features like bluetooth, firewireport-1394, Intel draft N wireless. The processor is Core 2 Duo 1.5 Ghz.

I believe the reviews are based on the 5920-6661 model(mentioned in acer website).

Hey guys is there a 5920 without HD DVD available in US market????????

N.B. All these information are obtained by googling. Pls make sure for yourself.

Your best buy version does not have bluetooth, HD-DVD drive, next-gen wireless, and has the 1.5ghz processor.

but the best buy version is not sanata rosa based? while the others are?
It seems the bb version uses a socket M meaning its based on napa platform? Is that going to be a big defference between chipsets?

Ah ok, thanks. I was kinda getting confused cause i read that santa rosa chipset had wireless n as part of platform and i didnt see that on the specs. But after some more research, it seems the t5250 is a socket P which is part of the santa rosa platform.

Does the BB model have turbo memory? or an option to add it? Also is there a free mini-pci avaliable? so we could add a wireless a/b/n/bluetooth later.

You can open up the bottom cover, and easily remove the Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG a,b,g chip (2-screws)... Then purchase the Intel Pro/Wireless 4965AGN with a,g, "n" off of ebay etc. A five minute job... Then.. go to the Acer site and install the drivers for a intel 4965AGN...... but first delete the 3945ABG drivers.

BlueTooth is a seperate piece that connects onto the board somwhere... As of yet, no one with an acer 5920G (with BlueTooth) has taken a photo of there BlueTooth chip for us... as well as provided the full part number/number of pins. Once they do.... Again, you'll have to purchase it, and then get the drivers from the Acer website.

Forget about intel turbo memory on the best buy model.... They left the connector for it off of the pc board.... Those FUC$#RS.. Probably saved themselves 8 cents.

**Photo is not the Best Buy model, as it has the missing intel turbo memory jack...

    As I said earlier there are 3 versions of 5920 available-6661($2000),6649($1500 microcenter.com),6313($1300bestbuy.com).

The biggest variation between last 2 is that 6649 has a Vista Ultimate($399) while 6313 has a Vista Home Premium($239)
That means Vista Ultimate will cost me $160 more which actually reflects on the lappy price....$1500-$1300=$200

So is Acer trying to tell me that they will give me a/b/g/n wireless and internal bluetooth for $40. Or are they forcing me to buy Windows Ultimate by adding the gizmos  I thought Acer sells laptop

    I HATE THIS MARKETING STARATEGY.

Do the Bestbuy model(5920-6313) and the microcenter model(5920-6649) have turbo cache memory?
In BB they have mentioned 1Gb turbocache memory along with the graphics card

    Ok...

    There two seperate items, but sound alot like each other;

"Intel Turbo Memory" adds an extra 1mb stick for ram use... It cannot be added to the Best Buy model as they left the connector off for it... The Microcenter version does not have it either, not sure if the connector is there though, as i only have the Best Buy model.

"Turbocache", is part of the nvidia video card, both, the Best Buy and Microcenter have it. It lets you borrow system ram for the video card, up to a total of 1024mb if needed.
