Hello I am very please with my Acer 5920g after 3 months of usage.
My only problem is that form day one the fan is always on at even on power never is quiet saver mode.... And when I say the fan is always on, I mean that it sounds above noticeable levels and Is there a problem on my 5920 or it is normal the fan never to be quiet?

    My 5920 is equipied with : T7100, 2gb Ram, 200gb HDD, 8600gt 256mb

I am not using any cooling pad and it is always plugged in.
I am dissapointed if my laptop requires a cooling pad for using just firefox and office. I don't play gaames often

I don't seem to have your problem. Yes, the fan turns on quite frequently, but certainly not constantly. Even while doing quite an amount of audio processing with lots of CPU load the fan doesn't get too loud imo.

The only difference in our systems seems to be the cpu, mine is a T7300, which should run even hotter, given the increased clockspeed.

    Did you try a biosupgrade?

    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5920/vista/BIOS/

Also make sure in your taskmanager that there aren't any processes eating up your CPU time. You might wanna use Process Explorer to see what's realy going on: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

    Regards,
    M.

    EDIT: Typo

First thing you should do is check temperatures.
It might also be caused by some weird hardware malfunction or something. So we have to know whether it is really necessary for the fan to run at max speed.
Just search google for 'temperature monitoring software' or try speedfan, w/e.
Post ur temperatures while ur using firefox and office etc.. here.
    Good luck

was thinking about this one a lot and you need to find out whats going on with windows. open task manager and google whats running and make sure you don't need it running.
then try msconfig start-up tab and see whats running at start-up and again check to see if you need or use it.
it takes time and its away of finding out just how much goes on with windows that you didn't know.

also try out blackviper.com and see what services you can shut down like remote access.who uses that but it runs al the time.
good luck and please post back how you get on.
    all the best Phil

I haven't upgrade my bios yet. Speedfan's readings for playing one xvid movie and some pdf and word documents are :

    Core 1: 24 C
    Core 2: 25 C
    HDD: 40 C

my fan is not running at full speed but at very noticeable levels.
Once I heard my fan at full speed while running NFS Pro Street.
I just wonder if my great 5920 is possible to be quiet without using a cooling pad for regular use such as internet, office and playing movies

P.S: ( I have used an Akasa with double 8 cm fans and there where no difference).

how can i undervolt my cpu?
another issue I spotted is than when i choose High Perfomance power plan according to cpuz 1.42 :
    Core Speed: 1200-1800mhz
    Bus Speed:200mhz
    Multiplier:6-9

    while on power saver:
    Core Speed: 1600mhz
    Bus Speed:200mhz
    Multiplier:8

Are these normal? I think that on power saver Core speed should be on lowest mhz. The settings on ePower are normal (low speed on power saver and high on High perfomance)

Wow You have realy low temps on CPU mine 5920G has 47 while idle and I have cooling pad set to low. So what's your problem? I think that it could be your hard drive not fun.

try a defrag and a chkdisk and see what happens.

its looking more like HDD or MB :(

Yes it is very cool indeed. When I touch the surface below is cool.
The problem is that the fan works everytime my 5920 is plugged in.
When it is on battery the fan speed reduce dramatically at very low levels.
So I think I will have a fan working all the time but my laptop will be cool :)
(I hope speedfan showning correct values!)

Well try to compare temps in Everest or just download little soft from www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp it's colled CoreTemp, I believe that the temps in speed fun are too low couse your hdd have nearly the same temp as mine.

ok i used coretemp to get new readings for my temps:

    Core 1 : 37 C
    Core 2 : 38 C

running on Power Saver power plan: xvid movie on media player, firefox, word and excel document

at this state my fan is running at noticeable hearing levels (but not at full throtle).

    Nah defrag wont help him.

I'm 6 feet away from my laptop now but I can hear a needle drop, so to speak. Temp is 41C.
The best thing you can do is update your BIOS, try updating to 3708 (if I'm right?), this will very likely fix your problem. I believe the link has been posted before.

No this is the newest and the best. Well I have the same bios and the same temp in room but my temps is 47 deegres, mine fun spin up and down few times per minute. So I have to put new grease under CPU, however I have OCed GPU so maybe it heats up my notebook

You can try to dissasable your laptop and clean it up with fluid air especialy the fun. Mybe it will fix your problem. But belive me my fun nearly stiil so this is common in 5920G.
