    HI all

    my acer has this drive DVD A DS8A1P ATA ( i dont know if the others laptop comes also with this one)

    i have a compability problem with media... i found tdk dvd-r after a lot of tries..
    I can't find dual layer or double layer or else to works with drive... (i have 3 media, two of them dont recognized at all and the third it seems to be writen but when i try to read the disc was bad.

    my question:
    1.if there is a firmware to support more optical media?...( i know that this drive belongs to lite-on but dont exist this drive in official site)
    2. your 5920g which drive has?
    3. is a test dual layer optical media to suggest? (too expensive for test them :) especially in cake pack)

    I have the same model. Its full name is DVD SUPER MULTI TRAY IN PHILIPS DS-8A1P LF :). I asked for support from acer euro service with the firmware thing some weeks ago, but they answered that there aren't any firmware updates available for oem devices, and odd-s.
    Anyways, what do you use to burn disks? Nero?

    i use the default program from acer nti.
    i have try nero 8 same results with nti on optical media.
    have you burn a dual layer disc?
